LIPOSUCTION

More and more people are turning to liposuction as a way of removing fatty deposits from their body, but are the benefits worth it. The results can be very impressive and most people who have undertaken liposuction treatment will say that they are pleased with the results and that they are more confident about their appearance.

Liposuction is the removal of fatty deposits from under the skin using a hollow stainless steel tube using a high-powered vacuum machine. One of the first questions people will ask before undergoing liposuction treatment is whether they can have a general anaesthetic or whether the liposuction can be performed under a local anaesthesia. The simple answer is that both are possible but your surgeon will advise you on the best approach. Clearly, there will be people of a particular disposition that will want to insist on a general anaesthetic when they have their liposuction treatment, but it needs to be remembered that their is always associated risks with being knocked out altogether.

Another question people will pose during their liposuction consultation is how much will the treatment cost? The simple answer is that it will depend on all the obvious factors like: extent of the treatment, recovery times (often linked to the anaesthetic) and even the location of the surgery. Increasing numbers of people from the British Isles are going abroad for their liposuction treatment on cost grounds. This is fine, but people need to remember that if their are medical complications it is going to be costly and less convenient to return for post-operative care.

Whatever you do, make sure you do not sacrifice your personal safety on cost grounds. Highly qualified and professional surgeons will not come cheap and they are very unlikely to allow you to have too much liposuction in one session and to jeopardise your health. As with many things in life, things that appear ob the face of it as bargains often aren't!
