SKYDIVING Are you looking to arrange your first skydive? If so, you will want to know some basic facts that will help you before you go ahead and make a booking. There are a number of companies and clubs that offer skydiving up and down the country and prices will generally start around the £150 mark.
Even after a 20 - 30 minute basic instruction you will be ready to make you first accompanied freefall jump. This is called a tandem jump, where you will be harnessed to a fully trained instructor and all you will need to do is hold your arms out and enjoy the experience.
![]() It is normal to freefall from around 15,000 feet for almost a minute before your parachute opens. If you would prefer a fast-track freefall jump without being strapped to an instructor, you will only be allowed to jump from lower altitudes of around 4 - 5,000 feet and where your parachute opens automatically on leaving the aircraft. The only difference is that this is not a freefall jump for obvious reasons.
